The Waygoose 1993
In October 1993 Nan Rael, JoAnn Shimuzi Sweet & Deborah Simon hung a flag outside the door and opened The Waygoose on North Washington St in Rockville. MD in the shopping center anchored by Magruder's Supermarket. The days leading up to the opening were crazy as we quickly turned a conservative men's clothing store into a store featuring American made handcrafts. Assisted by family & friends we sponged the walls, covered dark stained wood shelves with muslin, added track lighting, moved in fixtures & furniture in our desire to create a warm, comfortable place to present work by artisans from across the country. For the next 10 years, The Waygoose continued to operate thanks to the many customers who became our loyal fans.

The Waygoose June 2004
In 2004, we closed in Rockville, to make room for the new Rockville Town Square and re-opened in November 2004 on Bethesda Row.

While the location in Bethesda is wonderful, we missed our old friends in Rockville, when the opportunity arose to again open in Rockville, we jumped on it & in May 2007 we did just that.
